Peritoneal dialysis uses your abdomen to clean blood. A tube fills your abdomen with fluid. Waste gets filtered through your belly lining, then drained after a few hours.

• Can be done at home, offering more flexibility for work, family, and travel.‍
• CAPD lets you choose your timing for exchanges throughout the day, but it must be done every day and can interrupt your routine.‍
• CCPD happens mostly while you sleep, which frees up your daytime schedule, but being connected to the machine at night can limit movement.
• Traveling with CCPD may require bringing the machine along.
