Living kidney donation means giving one of your kidneys to help someone in need. It’s an incredible gift of life.
Most people can live a normal life with one HEALTHY kidney. That’s why a healthy person can choose to donate one to someone who needs it.
This is called a living kidney donation — and it can save a life.
Donors may be family, close friends, or even strangers who choose to help someone in need.
To become an organ donor in Tennessee, register online at DonateLifeTN.org, check "YES" when getting/renewing your driver's license/ID at the TN Driver Services (DDS) center, tell your family your wishes, and you can specify organs/tissues to donate, with registration open to those 13+. Anyone can be a potential donor, regardless of age or health, as medical condition at death determines eligibility, and it costs nothing for the donor's family.
Salty or sugary snacks like chips and pretzels can make kidney problems worse. Choose fresh, kidney-friendly options instead.
